SCRIP
SCRIP to Shop – SCRIP to Save
What is SCRIP?
SCRIP is a term that means “substitute money”. When you purchase SCRIP, you are purchasing prepaid cards/certificates that are used just like cash. You can use SCRIP to purchase everyday items such as groceries, gas, clothing, prescriptions, toys, as well as other essentials.
How does SCRIP generate revenue?
The gift certificates are purchased at a discount and resold to you at face value. The discount revenue is retained by SCRIP, and at the end of the school year, the revenue generated by your personal purchases is returned to you as a tuition rebate for the following year. Beginning with the 2010-11 school year, you may choose to receive 100% of the rebate revenue, or you may choose to have all or part of the revenue allocated to the parish/school.
Purchase Example:
Martin's (3%) $400 x .03 = $12.00
Speedway (4%) $100 x .04 = $4.00
Barnes & Noble (9%) $50 x .09 = $4.50
Walgreens (6%) $75 x .06 = $4.50
Barnaby's (20%) $20 x .20 = $4.00
Total: $29.00 applied to your rebate revenue.
