Technology
We value technology at St. Anthony, as is evident in our commitment to technology investment. Our Computer Lab, staffed by our full time technology teacher, uses Apple iMacs, networked using a high speed connection. K-3 students are introduced to keyboarding and use Kidpix software. Hyperstudio, a multimedia presentation software, is used by our students in Grades 4-6. Our Junior High students in Grades 7-8 work with PowerPoint and iMovies software.
Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum as a learning tool, with students using Mobile Lab laptops in the classroom for internet research and other projects. St. Anthony uses the Lexia Primary Reading Program with students in K-2. The Accelerated Reader Program is networked throughout the school. The Criterion On-Line Writing Program, utilized in Grades 5-8, gives students immediate feedback on their writing. These resources allow St. Anthony students to work either independently or with their class.
Communication between parents, teachers and students is enhanced by our access to the internet. Each student has a PowerSchool account, an on-line grade book. With PowerSchool, students and parents are always aware of classroom progress. Teachers and staff are easily accessible via e-mail, and post daily assignments on our website's Homework Hotline.
