The Sacrament of Holy Orders (Ordained Ministers)
Read an interesting and catchy wording on a sign board: “God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called”.
From among the human family, God calls to His service in the ordained ministry men open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit urging them in the path of ministry to the People of God. This indeed is a vocation which requires special preparation over a period of many years. It is a preparation of mind and heart.
Priesthood in the Latin Rite of the Roman Catholic tradition has a celibate clergy. This discipline of the Church goes back a thousand years or so in the history of the Church.
If one feels called to serve the Church in the ministry of Priesthood, this person should be encouraged by the prayers of his immediate family. He should also contact his Parish Priest who would recommend the aspirant to the Diocesan Director of Vocations.
