The Sacrament of Confirmation
The Ritual of the Sacrament says: “Be sealed with the Holy Spirit”. This is what Confirmation does to the person confirmed ... seals the person with the gifts of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude (Courage), Knowledge, Piety (Reverence), Fear of the Lord (Wonder and Awe).
We also refer to this Sacrament as the Sacrament of maturity in the faith. The one confirmed is generally around the age of 13-14. Adults are confirmed along with their reception into the faith and tradition of the Roman Catholic Church through the RCIA process. |
