Music Ministry

The goal of Music Ministry at St. Anthony de Padua Parish is to enhance the spirit of worship through inspirational choral and instrumental participation and leadership. Those involved in Music Ministry offer their talents and skills for the service of the wider congregation gathered for worship.

Our tradition of worship, from pre-Christian times, has always included singing with or without accompaniment. The human heart responds to melody for it is a means of expression of faith and emotion. Like all things that shape and form the human condition, music has evolved through many forms. These changes occur in both sacred and secular music.  That is why we can use such descriptions as "The ol’ standbys" or "Contemporary Hymns" because of the obvious differences in past and present-day liturgical music. The common thread is to "praise God in voice and song".

The inclusion of a vast array of instrumental accompaniment — organ, piano, orchestral instruments, chimes, etc. — only further enhances our tradition of worship.

The joining of composition, voice and instrument in any combination brings the human heart to prayer so that the Creator can be praised, adored, petitioned, and thanked for bestowing upon us numerous gifts and graces.

May our common worship at St. Anthony’s always remind us of the goodness of God and the great love He has for each one of us in sending His Son, Jesus Christ, into our midst to show us the way back to the Kingdom. Every note we sing opens our hearts a little more to receive countless blessings on this journey of life.
